Jisc Historic Books service redevelopment underway

Following an open OJEU invitation to tender earlier this year, Knowledge Integration (K-Int) was invited by Jisc Collections to take part in a Competative Dialogue procedure for development of a new Historic Books platform to replace the current system at www.jischistoricbooks.ac.uk. In November, Jisc Collections announced that the contract had been awarded to K-Int with Gooii and Sero Consulting as partners. We look forward to working with Mimas and Jisc Collections to deliver the new system from April 2014.

Jisc Historic Books is a high profile flagship service provided by Jisc Collections to the research and education sector. It brings together three historically significant collections: Early English Books Online (EEBO), Eighteenth Century Collections Online (ECCO) and 65,000 texts from the British Library 19th Century collection.

The new search and discovery Jisc Historic Books service will be delivered using open source technologies, building on K-Int’s existing products and technical expertise.  It replaces a commercially licensed system.
